NEW INDUSTRY RESEARCH SHOWS
ENERGY SAVINGS TOP OF MIND WITH EDUCATORS
CITY MULTI® Systems Ideal Solution for Education
Facilities
SUWANEE, Ga., June 1, 2009 - According to a recent
survey of educational facilities including K-12 and colleges and
universities, when researching HVAC systems the most important
factor that is taken into consideration are the energy savings that
a specific product will help realize. This factor outweighed
quality/reliability, operating efficiency, and both equipment and
maintenance costs.
Other markets surveyed by Clear Seas Research, Troy, Mich.,
included assisted living facilities, government/military buildings,
hospitality, multi-family residential buildings and office and
utility buildings. Survey participants work in buildings of various
sizes; the majority in buildings with fewer than four floors and
around 20,250 square feet with an average of about 77 rooms.
When asked about their cooling and heating preferences as well as
their challenges, both the K-12 schools and the colleges and
universities noted that one of their major challenges was not only
delivering conditioned ventilated air and comfortable temperatures
to a diverse group of people located in adjacent spaces, but also
maintaining a temperature that was agreeable to all. Another
challenge educational facilities face are a lack of proper
maintenance manpower should an outage occur.
Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division, Suwanee, Ga.,
is committed to providing energy-efficient, eco-friendly HVAC
solutions for the education market. It is continually developing
products that include the latest in advanced comfort technology,
innovative features and energy efficiency. Its CITY MULTI® VRFZ
(Variable Refrigerant Zoning Systems) technology meets all of the
challenges posed by the Clear Seas Research findings and more. In
addition, CITY MULTI systems also provide many opportunities for
education facilities to attain LEED® points when designing and
applying the system.
Recent improvements to the CITY MULTI VRFZ Y- and R2-Series provide
even greater cooling and heating capacity and application
flexibility. The new line-up consists of 6-, 8- and 10-ton outdoor
unit modules, which can be combined to form an outdoor unit system
of up to 30 tons that can connect to as many as 50 indoor units.
Both the new Y-Series heat pump and the R2-Series heat recovery
system outdoor units are smaller in height and depth. The 6-ton
module is even small enough to fit through a standard-sized
doorway. In addition, the new units are lightweight and easier to
transport, making this product an ideal fix for an educational
facility struggling with numerous classrooms that are in need to
constant cooling and heating.
The total applied capacity of the R2-Series system's indoor units
can be up to 150 percent of the capacity of the outdoor unit by
taking advantage of load diversity and simultaneous cooling and
heating operation.
The modular units also provide easy installation and maintenance.
Elevated piping connections and a control box located almost at eye
level contribute to easy maintenance and two separate front panels
allow maintenance from one side of the unit, eliminating the need
for constant maitnance.
The CITY MULTI Y-Series can cool or heat up to 50 zones. The
Y-Series module also is available with Mitsubishi Electric HVAC's
exclusive H2i™ technology, which offers tremendous heating capacity
at incredibly low temperatures, even down to minus 13 degrees
Fahrenheit. Both systems take advantage of Mitsubishi Electric's
INVERTER technology to provide the precise amount of cooling or
heating to all zones. By distributing capacity from one zone of a
system to another, the the systems apply only as much energy as
each zone needs, making them an energy-efficient solution to total
comfort control.
A variety of indoor units are offered for both the R2-Series and
Y-Series, including wall-mounted, ceiling-recessed,
ceiling-suspended, concealed-ducted, floor-standing and vertical
types.
