New Y-Series is Latest Addition to CITY MULTI®

Lawrenceville, Ga. - The latest addition to the CITY MULTI® line of Variable Refrigerant Flow Zoning (VRFZ) systems from Mitusbishi Electric HVAC, Lawrenceville, Ga., is the new Y-Series. This energy effective heat pump adds flexibility to and provides zoning options for CITY MULTI systems, according to Paul Doppel, brand manager.

"We had a very successful launch in 2003 with our R2-series, CITY MULTI's simultaneous VRFZ system. The Y-Series compliments that unit in being able to provide effective heating and cooling in areas that share the same needs or for applications that call for cooling only," says Doppel.

Using the Mitsubishi Electric Scroll Compressor with Inverter Technology, the Y-Series offers variable output, which is integral to keeping buildings at a comfortable tempurature for all occupants. The Y-Series shares the same variable capacity indoor units and simple DDC controls as the R2-Series, which includes the proprietary CITY MULTI Controls Network (CMCN).

The CMCN consists of consists of remote controllers, timers, system controllers, centralized controllers, Building Management System (BMS) interfaces and integrated software. The CMCN provides advanced, user-friendly control for each zone of a building with options for individual or centrallized temperature control.

As the Y-Series requires no ductwork, this makes for easier and faster installation, thus lowering installation costs, adds Little. Also, he says, because the system has the capacity to deliver the right amount of refrigerant to various areas of a building, the Y-Series is quite energy-efficient. The Y-Series also uses T-joints, manifolds and headers to distribute the refrigerant for synchronized cooling or heating.

The PUHY-80 model can be connected to up to 13 indoor units while the PUHY-100 model can be connected to up to 16 indoor units. Also, the Y-Series can distribute the capacity of the outdoor unit up to 130 percent and can be used as a supplement to the R2 Series. Both versions can be tied together using the exclusive G50 controller and monitored through the CITY MULTI Control Network (CMCN).
