Mr. Slim® Heat Pumps Qualify for Tax Credit
Monday, April 13, 2009SUWANEE, Ga., April 13, 2009
- As stipulated in the new American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (also known as the Stimulus Bill) set forth by
President Barack Obama in February 2009, eligible homeowners can
now claim up to a maximum of $1,500 in tax credits for qualifying
energy-efficient home improvements. Included are two Mr. Slim
split-ductless heat pumps from Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced
Products Division, the ENERGY STAR® and CEE (Consortium for Energy
Efficiency (ceel.org)) Tier 2-qualified Mr. Slim MSZ/MUZ-FD09NA and
the MSZ/MUZ-FD12NA. This credit means that 30 percent of the cost
of the heat pump installation up to a maximum of $1,500, including
equipment, materials and labor will be credited back to the
consumer on his or her federal income tax return, adding to the
benefits of Mr. Slim systems.
In order to qualify for this credit, the Mr. Slim system must be
installed after February 17, 2009, through the end of 2010. The
split-system heat pumps chosen for installation must achieve the
highest CEE Tier Level of energy efficiency with a Seasonal Energy
Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 15 or higher, an Energy Efficiency Ratio
(EER) of 12.5 or higher and a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor
(HSPF) of 8.5 or higher. Both the MSZ/MUZ-FD09 and FD12 models fit
into this category with the MSZ-FD09NA having a SEER of 25, and EER
of 13.8 and an HSPF of 10 and the MSZ-FD12NA having a SEER of 22,
and EER of 12.5 and an HSPF of 10.55.
In addition, the systems feature superior cooling and heating
performance. The MSZ-FD09NA systems have a rated cooling capacity
of 9,000 Btu/h and a rated heating capacity of 10,900 Btu/h, while
the MSZ-FD12NA models have a rated cooling capacity of 12,000 Btu/h
and a rated heating capacity of 13,600 Btu/h. Mitsubishi Electric
HVAC's "i-see" sensor is standard on the MSZ-FD indoor units. The
"i‑see" sensor enables the units to achieve superior cooling and
heating performance by eliminating the disparity between the
temperature close to the ceiling and the temperature near the
floor. The sensor rotates 360 degrees, measures the infrared
radiation generated from the surrounding wall and floor surfaces,
computes radiant energy and then converts it into a temperature
value which is introduced into the control system. This process
creates a more comfortable environment near the floor, around
occupants.
In addition to the standard antioxidant catechin filter, the
MSZ-FD/MUZ-FD systems include two new filters: a blue-enzyme filter
that reduces the concentration of allergens and germs in the air;
and a platinum catalyst deodorizing filter that uses nanotechnology
to absorb microscopic odor particles, providing improved comfort in
any space. The system also is extremely quiet, as low as 22 db(A)
indoors. It includes a "powerful mode" function, which permits the
system to temporarily run at either a cooler or warmer temperature
(depending on need) with an increased fan speed to quickly bring
any room to the optimum comfort level. The system includes a
wireless remote controller for simple, precise comfort
control.
Mitsubishi Electric HVAC is committed to providing
energy-efficient, eco-friendly HVAC solutions to homeowners and
building owners alike. They are continually developing products
