What is ecodan?

Our all‑electric air‑to‑water heat pump is a next‑generation heating and cooling solution designed for ultimate comfort and efficiency. It can seamlessly replace or work alongside your existing boiler system, giving you a flexible path toward cleaner energy. With the ability to deliver space heating, cooling, and domestic hot water from a single system, it provides year‑round performance in one smart package. Best of all, it integrates effortlessly with fan coils, radiators, baseboard heaters, or underfloor heating—making it an ideal upgrade for both modern and traditional hydronic systems.

How it works

  • ecodan heats your home with water, just like a boiler.
  • Instead of burning fuel, ecodan uses electricity.
  • It takes heat from the outdoor air and uses it to provide hot water.
  • Hot water moves through your home to radiators, baseboards, fan coils, or heated floors.
  • Every room is kept warm when heat is needed or cool when in cooling mode.
  • The same process also heats water for your hot water tank, so you have hot water for showers and taps.
ecodan House Heat Emitters

Cold-climate performance with heating down to −22°F

ecodan is engineered for powerful cold‑climate performance, delivering steady hydronic heat even when outdoor temperatures plunge. Using advanced Hyper-Heating INVERTER® technology, the system maintains consistent comfort and hot water without burning fossil fuels, so your home stays warm all winter long.

Designed to meet the higher temperature demands of hydronic systems, ecodan helps overcome one of the biggest challenges of boiler‑heated homes: efficient, reliable performance in freezing conditions.

Benefits of a refrigerant split type system

ecodan is an air-to-water refrigerant split system. Refrigerant is piped between the outdoor unit and the indoor Hydrobox. The Hydrobox contains a refrigerant-to-water heat exchanger that is used to heat water that is then pumped to the space emitters and DHW tank.

A refrigerant-split system differs from Hydro-split and monobloc systems which only use water which requires larger pipes and anti-freeze measures.
