Good Haus

Good Haus

"Designing and building our own house was an opportunity to find the balance and harmony between the three intersecting areas of our work: the handmade house, modern architectural forms and a commitment to high-performance building standards."

When Mela Breen and David Good designed and built their own high-performance home in Nevada City, California, they aimed to find harmony between aesthetics and performance. The result was “Good Haus,” a play on David’s name and Passivehaus. Good Haus is projected to reach zero-net energy thanks in part to its use of Mitsubishi Electric Zoned Comfort Solutions®. The full Case Study details the home’s unique compartmentalized design and efficiency goals, with perspective from the architect and photos of the home and equipment installations. Download the PDF below to read more.
