Technology Spotlight: What is Dual Barrier Coating?

As outside temperatures fluctuate, your air-conditioning system is probably more appreciated than ever before! As such, your home is your sanctuary; a place where you can rest comfortably and breathe easier. At Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US, we’re focused on delivering innovative solutions to promote comfort, efficiency and wellness in every home.

Fall and spring are great benchmarks in the year to evaluate your heating and air conditioning system. Determine what’s working well, what could be improved and assess your indoor air quality.

This year, we’re thrilled to introduce Dual Barrier Coating on select units within our residential ductless product lineup! This technology is ideal for those looking to enhance their system’s efficiency and overall air quality.

What’s Dual Barrier Coating?

Our patented coating prevents dust and dirt from accumulating in the indoor unit. Applied to the indoor unit’s heat exchanger, vanes and blower wheel, this extra layer of protection keeps irritants such as pollen, mold, dander and other potentially aggravating airborne particles at bay.

How does this feature benefit your home?

Enhanced Indoor Air Quality

Your indoor units filter out dirt and dust particles, but over time, particle build-up can diminish your system’s filtering capabilities. During testing, units protected with Dual Barrier Coating rejected 90% of the dirt particles found on units without Dual Barrier Coating within the same time frame. This feature coupled with our mini-split’s zoned configuration allows for a higher standard of indoor air quality and ensures your system is running as efficiently as possible.

Reduced Maintenance

Maintenance with mini-split heat pump systems is already streamlined with easy to remove, washable filters. Our Dual Barrier Coating further reduces the need for intensive cleaning and maintenance. Routine maintenance for mini-split systems treated with Dual Barrier Coating can be completed directly by the homeowner. This also prevents wear and tear on the unit, reducing the need for repairs.

As you look for ways to enhance your home’s overall efficiency and wellness, switching to a mini-split system is a great first step. With busy schedules, your heating and air conditioning system shouldn’t be a source of stress. Instead, you should be able to count on it to efficiently provide clean, comfortable, filtered air.
